Breakfast Shiurim
Many, many years ago at FPS on Yom Kippur, when some say that minds are at their most alert, there was a wonderful midday Shiur.
Two of its 50 or so participants agreed that such an enjoyable event should be a more regular feature at our Synagogue than just once a year on the 'Sabbath of Sabbaths'. Enjoyable lively debate on an evocative, specific subject is the order of the day. All are encouraged to partcipate, to express our thoughts and opinions in a setting of mutual exploration and respect. The even is always accompanied bya truly delicious breakfast.
The religious and secular topics presented by experts in their field vary from history, music, anthropology, psychology, archaeology, philosophy, theology and many, many more since its inception.
As a microcosm of our community, we as a group from all walks of life are always made merry by the atmosphere of cheerful enthusiasm and gentle camaraderie, as we sit together to let go of the work a day week and enjoy the pleasure of free thought and lively debate.
Each shiur begins on a Saturday morning at 8:45am and finishes in time for the Shabbat morning serivce at 10:45am. Breakfast is generously provided by Tony Rose who also organises the shiurim.
