Our Rabbi

Rabbi Neil Janes began working with us in June 2006. He was ordained by the Leo Baeck College and plays a full role in the life of our community. He is passionate about developing a Liberal Judaism that is compelling and exciting, based on a love of learning, meaningful worship and social justice.
Rabbi Neil Janes is involved in the wider Barnet community and is a member of the Liberal Conference of Rabbis. He has a BA degree in Psychology and Education and an MA in Hebrew and Jewish Studies. Currently, Rabbi Janes is a Governor of the Leo Baeck College, the rabbinical seminary where he was ordained.
Neil has worked with a number of synagogues in addition to denominational organisations. Before being ordained he was a youth worker and Jewish educator, working for RSY-Netzer and a number of other synagogues. He has also worked in cross-communal organisations, such as the UJIA, and has presented on Limmud.
There is no such thing as a stupid question or inquiry and Neil will offer you a compassionate and supportive ear in times of trouble. Please feel free to contact him rabbi@fps.org.
