Prayer and Services
At Finchley Progressive Synagogue we have a rich and varied range of services. We use the prayerbooks of Liberal Judaism for many services, though for special services we use custom written liturgy including transliteration of all the Hebrew. The services are uplifting and spiritual and offer moments for reflection and inspiration. Services may be led by Rabbi Neil Janes, a visiting rabbi or a capable member of our community.
Men and women sit together in our services and have an equal role in the ritual life of the community. Men are asked to cover their heads and wear a tallit (prayer shawl) when performing a mitzvah on the bimah. Women are invited and encouraged to do the same if they so wish.
All evening services begin at 6:30pm
All morning services begin at 11am
(The exception is on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur when tickets are issued providing full detail of service times).
